ABOUT THIS GOAL

Safe water, sanitation and hygiene are essential to health and dignity. Billions of people still lack safely managed drinking water or sanitation, and water scarcity is rising as demand grows and the climate changes.

Goal 6 aims for universal access to safe drinking water and sanitation, better water quality, more efficient water use, and the protection and restoration of rivers, lakes, wetlands and other water ecosystems.
