Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
ABOUT THIS GOAL
Forests cover around a third of the Earth's land. They give us clean air and water, protect soil, store carbon and are home to most land-based animals, plants and insects.
Forest is still being lost, land is being degraded, and many species are moving closer to extinction. Goal 15 asks countries and people to protect what is left, restore what has been damaged, and use land in ways that last.
